Barkley Funeral Wednesday Afternoon

Special to the Journal.
McCallsburg, Nov. 28--The funeral of Mrs. Oscar Barkley was held Wednesday afternoon. Short services were held at the home in McCallsburg followed by services at the Evangelical church at Radcliffe with Rev. C. D. Wendell in charge. The pall bearers were Jake Meins, Jesse Thompson, W. T. Tett, Elliott Thompson, James Hall and F. E. Nail. The music was furnished by a quartette of ladies from Radcliffe, Mesdames Butler, Himmel, Kiser and Wendell who sang, "Jesus Lover of My Soul", "I Will Guide Thee Home" and "Some Day the Journey Will Be Over."

Nora Josephine Johnson, daughter of J. H. and Carrie E. Johnson was born on a farm near Radcliffe Aug. 7, 1894 and passed away Nov. 23, 1931 at the age of 37 years, 3 months and 16 days.

She was united in marriage to Oscar H. Barkley, Dec. 14, 1922 to this union was born a son Van Walton, now eight years of age and a daughter who died at birth Nov. 9, 1931.

She was confirmed at 14 years of age by Rev. Knutson and belonged to the Lutheran church at Radcliffe until nine years ago when she affiliated with the Evangelical church at Radcliffe, where the funeral was held.

Mrs. Barkley and family came here from Radcliffe about two years ago and was a member of the Presbyterian Aid Society and Missionary Society and a member of Royal Neighbors Lodge. Although she lived here only this short time she had made many friends who were saddened by her illness and death.

Burial was made in the Radcliffe cemetery.
