AGED LADY DIED VERY SUDDENLY
MRS. G. F. SIMMONS, OF AMES, EXPIRES WHILE HER SON SOUGHT HELP.
Special to the Journal.
Ames, May 8.--Mrs. G. F. Simmons, a well known lady of this city, died very suddenly last evening about eleven o'clock of heart disease. She was alone at the time death claimed her. Her son, George, who lives in Illinois, was visiting with her and was at home very shortly before death occurred. The mother was taken suddenly ill and the son started for help, but before he returned death had visited the home and claimed the aged mother.Mrs. Simmons was 78 years of age and had lived in Ames for many years, living alone in her little cottage. She is survived by three sons, George, who lives in Illinois, and Parry and Rome, well known residents of this city. She also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Charley Loving and Mrs. Merritt, the latter of Webster City.
No arrangements have been made as yet for the funeral. The news of the death came as a great shock to the many friends of the old lady in this city, where she was a pioneer and popular resident.
