OBITUARY

FATAL ACCIDENT AT COLO.
Aged Woman Burned to Death.

Mrs. Simmons, a lady eighty years of age, who lived at Colo accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Bartlett and the latter's daughter was fatally burned at an early hour Thursday morning. It appears that she was in the habit of sleeping with a light in her room, and the essential fact of the matter is that she screamed in the night, and when her daughter and grand-daughter reached her she was covered with flames. The fire was put out before involved the house; but the old lady was too badly burned to recover. Mrs. Simmons had been a resident at or near Colo for about twenty years, and she was a woman much esteemed by those who knew her.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: "Mrs. Bartlett" was Valetta E. "Lettie" Simmons, wife of Everett Edward Bartlett. They were married 21 January 1876 in Story County, Iowa.
