DEATHS

GERHARD O. BIRKESTRAND

Gerhard O. Birkestrand were held on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 1973 at 1:30 p.m. at the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley with pastor Marvin E. Nygard officiating.

Mrs. Jacob Lee, organist accompanied Robert Weeks.

Pallbearers were Joseph Birkestrand, John Birkestrand, Marvin Swenson, Claude Holland, Clarence Jackson and Homer Wright. Interment was in Fjeldberg Cemetery at Huxley.

Gerhard Birkestrand was born March 1, 1912 in Story County to parents Weir and Serina Birkestrand. He graduated from the Huxley School and served in the army during World War II.

He was married to Marion Pederson of Clear Lake. One daughter Tania was born to this union. He lived in California and Clear Lake and for the past 15 years lived in Des Moines.

Mr. Birkestrand died at his home in Des Moines on Sunday, November 25.

He is survived by his wife, Marian; one daughter, Mrs. Tania Campbell of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two brothers, Weir of Nevada and David of Cambridge; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Anderson of Minneapolis, Mrs. Odella Crowell of Brooklyn, N. Y. and Mrs. Javerna Twit of Kelley; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brothers Harold.
