OBITUARY OF MRS. SMITH
Was Native of New York and Died at Advanced Age.

Colo, March 9--Lucreta Marie Kuney was born in New York state July 23, 1844. In early live she left New York with her parents and located at Mendota, Ill. Here she grew up to young womanhood and taught in the schools of that vicinity. She was married to Edward Benjamin Smith, June 25, 1869. To this union were born two sons, William of Colo, who lived and cared for his mother during her declining years. Arthur who preceded his mother in death, having died May 2, 1911. Mr. Smith died at Earlville, Ill., Aug. 5, 1892.In 1899 Mrs. Smith with her family of two boys moved to a farm south of Nevada having lived in Story county from that time to the time of her death. She occupied their present farm home 1913.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, William of Colo, the only near relative. She was a member of the congregational church and lived a quiet but consistent Christian life. She enjoyed the respect of of all her neighbors and was looked upon as a person of unusual piety. She was a home lover and seldom left the quiet of the place she loved most. She was 80 years, 7 months and 9 days old.
Mrs. Smith's body was taken to Princeton, Ill., where she was laid to rest by the side of her husband awaiting the summons of the resurection morning.
