Final Rites For S.R. Christianson Today in Story City

STORY CITY -- Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Bethel Lutheran church here for Selmer Christianson, 45, lifetime resident of Story City, who died 9 o'clock Sunday evening from uremic poisoning in the Veteran's hospital in Des Moines, where he had been a patient since June 26, suffering from diabetes and heart trouble.

The American Legion conducted graveside services in the Story City cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Nelle Rath; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. O. Christianson of Story City, three brothers, P. C. Christianson of Ames, Bert Christianson of Story City and Arthur Christianson of Los Angeles, Calif.; and three sisters, Mrs. Floyd Hamm of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Joel Havnen of Washington, D. C., and Mrs. Joe Dobbe of Slater.

One sister preceded him in death.

Mr. Christianson had been associated with his brother in the Wayside Inn and the P and C Hamburger shop in Ames.

The deceased enlisted in the army at the age of 15 during World War I, served in Manilla and Corregidor and discharged before reaching 17 years of age.
