Rebecca Ann Bloodsworth
July 8, 1900, to Jan. 11, 1996

Rebecca Ann Bloodsworth, 95, of Knoxville and formerly of Nevada, died Jan. 11 of heart failure at Griffin Nursing Center, Knoxville.

She was born to John B. and Ida (Verploeg) Moody on July 8, 1900, near Leighton. She graduated from Tracy High School in Iowa.

In 1919, she married Matthew A. Sandmeier. He passed away in 1964. She later married Leonard Verwers who also preceded her in death. In 1979, she married Thomas Bloodsworth who passed away in 1986.

She moved to Nevada in 1942, having lived in both Sheffield and Oskaloosa. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Nevada Chapter No. 296, and a past member of the United Methodist Church in Nevada and the Open Bible Church in Des Moines. She was an avid golfer and liked to garden and go yard work.

Survivors include a son, John Sandmeier of McCallburg; eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, one son, two brothers and eight sisters.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 10:50 a.m. at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. James King of the Nevada First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
