Mrs. Robert Sloan Dies After Illness
Mrs. Laura Lee Sloan, 80, widow of the later Robert F. Sloan, a resident of Story county the past 46 years, died Sunday at 11:40 a.m. following a 4-year illness.
Funeral services will be held from the Ryan Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. H. G. Kohl, officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.
Mrs. Sloan was born in Roberts Port, Kentucky, Feb. 29, 1876. She was married Jan. 13, 1897 to Robert F. Sloan at Mills Springs, Ky.
Surviving are the daughters, Zella, Mrs. Ralph Cessna of Nevada and Emarine, Mrs. Lorence Roskopf of Melbourne, and two sons, Theodore L. Sloan of Akron, Ohio and John M. Sloan of San Manto, Calif. She also leaves five grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Emma Conley, Nevada, Mrs. Mary Willhite of Monticello, Ky., and Mrs. Pearl Daugherty of Danville, Ky.
Mrs. Sloan was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Sloan on June 21, 1953, and by three sons, Edla Sloan in 1917, Lloyd Sloan in 1944 and Craig Sloan in 1949.
