Mrs. George Koontz Died Today and Funeral Monday

Mrs. George Koontz, age about 75 years, died at 9:30 a.m. today at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. P. S. O'Neil, northeast of Nevada.

The body was taken to Ames and is now at the Adams Funeral home, where it will be until Monday morning when services will be held at St. Cecelia's church at 9:30 after which burial will be in the old St. Patrick's cemetery.

Mrs. Koontz, whose maiden name was Sadie McNichols, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward McNichols was well known in this part of the county in an earlier day, and taught school in the county for several years prior to her marriage.

Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Koontz had lived on farms north of Colo, near Zearing and around Nevada but for the past fifteen years or more their home had been in Ames, with the exception of about two years spent with a son in Omaha.

She leaves besides her husband sons Lee Koontz of Ames and Ray Koontz of Omaha and one daughter, Mildred, wife of Joseph Smay of Norman, Oklahoma. There are also 8 grandchildren.

She suffered a stroke of apoplexy about 16 months ago and had been with her sister-in-law Mrs. O'Neill and family since August 6 last.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: George Koontz's sister, Laura Isabelle Koontz/Koons married Philip S. O'Neil and was Sarah McNichol Koontz's sister-in-law. They lived in Sherman Township, Story County, Iowa at the time of her death.
