Final Rites Monday For Jennings Skare

Story City, July 30--A prayer service at the Henderson Funeral home preceded the last rites at the Immanuel Lutheran church in Story City 2:30 Monday afternoon for Jennings Skare, who died at the Eldora hospital last Friday, as the result of an automobile accident east of Roland on July 18.

Rev. A. O. Skibsrud was assisted by Rev. P. L. Mork of Radcliffe and interment was in Story City cemetery.

Jennings Skare, son of Samuel and Ingelife Skare, was born January 5, 1905 at Radcliffe, Iowa; was baptized on February 9 of that same year by the Rev. S. C. Heidal. Growing up in that same community he was a member of the Lutheran church and was confirmed by the Rev. Lee. He grew to manhood in Radcliffe and on June 12, 1930, was married to Mildred Tesdall at Story City.

He moved with his wife and family to Story City about 17 years ago, where he has since made his home. For the past six years, he has been employed as a railway mail clerk.

At the time of his death, July 23, 1948, he was 43 years, 6 months and 18 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing besides his wife; two sons, James 17 and Kenneth 10; his father and mother of Radcliffe; five brothers, Selmer of Lincoln, Nebraska, Lorene of Fenton, Iowa, George of Irvington, Iowa, Ernest of Ohio and Burthon, unlocated, and one sister, Margaret, now Mrs. Roberson of Waterloo. Another sister, Selma Hegland, preceded him in death last May.

He will be remembered as a kind and loving husband and father to his family and cherished friend to all who knew him.

Casket bearers were Willis Barkema, Murl Smuck, Herman Severseike, Arthur Tesdall, Lawrence Tesdall and Harris Tesdall.

Mrs. Benjamin Anderson and Mrs. Arvie Jacobson sang a special duet number at the church.
