According to the obituary read by the pastor, Dwight D. Sheldon was the only son of Dr. and Mrs. M. D. Sheldon, early day Story county residents. He was born at Knoxville, Iowa, March 18, 1855, and died in a Chicago hospital June 6, 1926.

He came with his parents to Story county when but a small lad and the family home was established at Iowa Center. He was united in marriage to Miss Nettie Fish on Christmas, 1877 and to this union two sons were born, they being DeLa Sheldon of Waterloo and William Milton Sheldon of Miama, Florida. The wife died June 10, 1898.

He was married the second time and to this union was born Evelyn Sheldon of St. Paul.

For the past few years his time has been divided between St. Paul and Chicago and it was in the latter city that he died.
