Chet Shalley is dead in Arizona

Chester E. Shalley, former Nevada businessman and a member of the police force, died Saturday evening at a hospital in Mesa, Ariz.

Mr. Shalley, the brother of Story County Sheriff Ivan Shalley, suffered a heart attack 20 years ago and had been seriously ill for the past 10 days.

A memorial service is being held in Mesa, where the body will cremated.

Survivng are his wife, Carmen; three children, Carolyn Wakeman of Illinois, Dr. Jack Shalley of Kentucky and Mrs. Ted Law of Maxwell and five grandchildren.

Shalley owned and operated the Big-O Tire Shop in Nevada for many years when it was the OK Tire Shop. After a heart attack and retirement he worked on the Nevada Police Force. During the years of World War II he worked on the Alaska highway.
