Rites Held Saturday For Mary Senter

Funeral services for Mary Center were conducted from the Ryan Funeral Home Saturday, June 27, 1953 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. F. A. Smith officiating.

Mrs. Harry Sutherland was soloist accompanied by Mrs. Norman Dobson.

Casket bearers were Merle Dayhuff, Mun Moody, Joe Sinkler, Lew Strother, Cleo Thompson and Charles Walker.

Mrs. Marie Dayhuff and Mrs. Charles Walker cared for the flowers.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

Obituary

Mary Petersen was born near Cantril, Iowa -- just over the Missouri State line. She was the daughter of John and Emma Petersen. The date of her birth was November 1st, 1883 and the date of her death was June 23rd, 1953. She was 69 years, 6 months and 23 days old at the time of her death. She was married to Frank L. Senter on February 16th, 1902 at the home of her parents near Apen, Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Senter lived in the community and in other locations until about 10 years ago when they moved onto the farm near Nevada, Iowa.

Mrs. Senter was a member of the Prairie View Methodist Church in which she was active as a Sunday School Teacher and Organist. She was also a member of the Willing Workers Club and worked in the Church groups. Her illness began some time ago and she has been a constant sufferer for the past year.

She is survived by her aged mother, Mrs. Emma Peterson of Memphis, Mo.; her husband, Mr. Frank L. Senter; one son, Mr. Clair M. Senter of Maxwell, Ia.; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Northrup of Ellsworth, Ia.; two brothers, Clyde F. and Creighton C. Peterson of Memphis, Mo. and Mt. Sterling, Mo. respectively; two sisters, Mrs. Commodore Webster of Wayland, Mo. and Mrs. Walton T. Burton of Lynwood, Calif. Also there are five grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who join the immediate family in mourning the loss of this good woman. Her father preceeded her in death on April 20th, 1929.
