E. C. Peterson Rites Held in Story City
Funeral services for Edward C. Peterson were held in Bethel Lutheran church, Story City on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 10 at 2 p. m. with Rev A. J. Bringle officiating.
A service was held in the Sunset Home Chapel preceding the church service. Rev. L. A. Mathre was in charge of the Chapel service. Mrs. Millard Jacobson was soloist accompanied by Mrs. Bert Stensland. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.
Pall bearers were T. Z. Henryson, M. H. Henryson, O. A. Mortvedt, Lars J. Raymond, E. B. Christian and Harley Lewiston.
Obituary
Edward C. Peterson, son of Christen and Melinda Peterson, was born on a farm near Story City, Nov. 8, 1880.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Elim Lutheran Church by the Rev. Solberg. He moved to Story City with his mother and sister, Helen and her children.
He had worked for the Tokheim Produce Company, Hill's Butter Tub Company and had been employed by the Pioneer Store for 35 years. He was a member of the volunteer Fire Department.
Peterson was a member of the Bethel Lutheran church, serving for many years as church treasurer and had most recently been employed at the Riverside Bible Camp during the summer months. He had lived at the Sunset Home for the past two winters. He died there Nov. 8th on his 79th birthday. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and three brothers.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Burke, Thompson, Ia.; Mrs. Helen Sydness and Mrs. Hannah Johnson, both of Story City. One sister-in-law, Mrs. Henry J. Peterson of Denver and a number of nieces and nephews survive.
