Last Rites for George Peterson Held Here Tuesday
Funeral services for George Peterson, 71, of Waterloo, were held at Morfoot Funeral Home in Nevada Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Windman of Memorial Lutheran church officiating at the last rites.
Mrs. Norman C. Dobson was at the organ when Leslie Henderson sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden".
Casket bearers were Frank Adams, Lee Hoel, Pete Mathison, Bus Ayers, Elmer Biddle and George Eilers.
The following brief life history was read by Rev. Windman.
George Peterson was born in Marshalltown, Ia., Dec. 14, 1875 and passed away in Waterloo March 1. When a small boy the family moved near Nevada where he attended school. He spent most of his life farming near Nevada except for a few years spent in Wisconsin.
Coming back to Nevada he was caretaker of the Indian Creek Country club for three years. He had spent the past year in Waterloo.
He leaves to mourn his passing four children, Mrs. George Taylor, Mrs. Harvey Collins, Herman Peterson and Mrs. Wesley Perry; five grandchildren, Max, Richard and Robert Collins, Darlene and Donald Perry; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Elliott of Nevada and Mrs. M. P. Mathison of Ames and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives from a distance here for the funeral services were Mrs. M. P. Mathison and Leota of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Elliott and family of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Larson and family and Mr. and Mrs. Overton of Des Moines.
