Joe Floden Rites Held Recently At Bethlehem Church
Funeral services for Joe Floden were held Friday afternoon at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 2 p. m.
Pastor Leo Bjorlie was in charge unit II Cor. 5:1 as his text "A house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." Mrs. Dean Ballard sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Under His Wings." She was accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Oliver Newman.
Pallbearers were Arlen Tweedt, Dean Floden, Richard Alleman, Ron Pierce, Theodore Welch, and Charles Raker. Interment was in the Palestine cemetery.
Life Sketch
Joseph Andrew Floden, son of Jacob and Anna Floden, was born on a farm near Huxley on July 31, 1901. He died Nov. 28, 1961 at the age of 60 years and four months.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
During World War II he served three years in the U.S. Navy. He was an active member of the Slater American Legion.
On March 28, 1952 he was united in marriage to Erika Nelson.
Surviving are his widow; three step children, Arthur Nelson of Slater, Mrs. Maurice Stigler of Maxwell and Mrs. Ernest Dalton of Long Beach, Calif. and twelve grandchildren, also five brothers, James, Richard and Sanford, all of Ames, Stanley of Clear Lake and George of Salter, two sisters, Mrs. Earl Speicher of Fairmont, Minn. and Mrs. Carroll Tweedt of Slater and many other relatives; also a host of friends.
