Mrs. Larson Died in Des Moines; Burial Here Sunday

Mrs. Lena Larson, 67, died at her home in Des Moines, Friday at 6 a. m. after an illness of about 4 weeks, death being due to pneumonia.

Funeral services will be held at the Hamilton Funeral chapel in Des Moines, Sunday afternoon at 2:30, with her pastor Rev. Fred Wertz in charge. The body will then be brought to Nevada for burial in the family lot, by the side of her husband, the late Andrew H. Larson, who died a few years ago.

Mrs. Larson, was born Lena Highland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nils Highland at Leland, Illinois, March 14, 1871, on of three children. She came to Nevada with her family and here she attended the local schools and grew to womanhood.

She was married to Andrew H. Larson at Maysville, Mo., in 1889 and the family home was established in Nevada in 1891.

Her home continued in Nevada from that time until about 1928 when she, with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Maxwell, located their home in Des Moines.

She was a member of Sweet Briar Rebekah lodge and kindred organizations in Des Moines, as well as of the Lutheran church.

She leaves her daughter Mrs. Mary Larson-Maxwell of Des Moines, a son Louis N. Larson of Oakland, California, two grandchildren Donald Larson of Des Moines and Grace Larson of Oakland, besides two great grandchildren.

She also leaves one brother, Ben Highland of Cambridge. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nils Highland, died years ago, as dd her only sister, Josie, who became the wife of John Osness, then a carpenter in Nevada.

The Rebekah lodge will have a ritualistic part in the burial of Mrs. Larson who had long been a faithful member of that order.

While she had lived in Des Moines for a number of years, she is well and kindly remembered in Nevada by a wide circle of friends, among whom she had lived for a third of a century or more.
