DEATHS
J.A.B. LARSON
Funeral services for J.A.B. (Ben) Larson were held Friday afternoon, Feb. 26, at 3:30 p.m. from Schroeder Funeral Home in Boone with the Rev. Walter Grimes, pastor of Central Christian Church, Boone, officiating.
Pallbearers were Herman Hanson, Thomas Case, Leonard Bennett, Kay Reed and Harold Rosengreen of Boone and Robert Arrasmith of Ames.
J.A.B. Larson, better known to residents in this community as Ben, was born in Story City on Sept. 22, 1878 to Halvor and Randie Larson. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Petri Lutheran Church, Story City, where he attended school and grew to young manhood.
On Sept. 1, 1913, he was united in marriage to Margit Hilda Jacobsen. One son Cecil, was born on Oct. 19, 1914.
Mr. Larson worked for many years at the Pioneer Store in Story City and in later years for Iowa State College in Ames. In 1938, he and his wife moved to Ames where they resided until 1962 when his health made it difficult for him to live alone and he moved to Boone and live with his son and daughter-in-law and family. In 1968, because of physical infirmities he moved to the Iowa Lutheran Home in Madrid where he lived until his death on Feb. 23, 1971.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers and sister and his wife.
Survivors are his son Cecil, and daughter-in-law, Sylvia, three grandchildren, Philip, Jeanne, and Nancy, and several cousins living in Story City.
