Hans J. Jessen Rites Held Here On Friday P. M.

Funeral services for Hans Jes Jessen, were held from the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. W. R. Tuttle, officiating.

Mrs. Loren Huhn, organist, played a number of selections before and after the service.

The casket bearers were Amos Anderson, Oscar Anderson, R. J. Burnett, Russell Golly, Lew Larson and Raymond Lock.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

Obituary

Hans Jes Jessen was born September 1, 1875, to Thomas and Caroline Jessen, whose home was in Chicago, Ill. He died at Story County Hospital, July 21, 1959, after a brief illness at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 21 days.

When he was about ten years of age he moved with his parents to Story County, living the remainder of his life in the county, in Madrid and Des Moines.

He was a school teacher for many years, and before retirement worked at general occupational jobs.

He was confirmed in the Memorial Lutheran church in Nevada and retained his membership there until his death.

In June 1909 he was united in marriage to Louise Patterson, making their home in Des Moines. His wife preceded him in death. To this union, one daughter was born, Mrs. Dorothy Coburn of Des Moines.

Surviving are his daughter, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also leaves one brother, L. F. Larson of Los Angeles, Calif., three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Malmanger of Nevada, Mrs. Mary Nordskog of Cedar Falls and Mrs. Anna Huttrod [sic] of Colfax, other relatives and many friends. Preceding him in death were his wife, two sisters and one brother.
