Services For Mrs. Maggie Fatland Are Held In Story City

Funeral services for Maggie Weeks Fatland were held in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City on Saturday, February 29, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Harold T. Masted officiating.

Mrs. Benjamin Anderson sang two songs accompanied by Miss Louis Olson at the organ.

Casketbearers were Richard Christian, Julius Christian, T. M. Holm, Everett Anderson, William Tjernagel and F. G. Janvrin. Burial was in the Story City Municipal cemetery.

Mrs. Fatland was preceded in death by her husband, Nels in 1957, a brother and a sister.

Survivors include her brother and sisters and several nieces and nephews, all of Norway.

Obituary

Maggie Weeks Fatland, daughter of Ole and Olina Vika, was born March 12, 1883 in Norway, Europe. She was baptized, confirmed and received her early Christian training there.

As a young girl she came to the United States and made her home with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Askel Skromme, near Roland. Later she went to Des Moines wher she was empolyed for several years.

On March 27 1918 she was married to Nels Fatland in Des Moines by the late Pastor N. G. Peterson. Following their marriage they moved to a farm near Clarion where they lived until 1935 when, due to Mr. Fatland's ill health, they moved to Story City where they had lived until his death.

In December 1962 Mrs. Fatland moved into Bethany Manor at Story City.

She died at the Story City Memorial Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, February 26, at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 14 days. She had been a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City.
