Early Day Milford Boy Buried Here

The body of E. H. Harnden, about 58 years of age, pioneer son of northwest Milford township, was interred in the Nevada cemetery this afternoon. Mr. Harnden died at Story City Saturday night from the effects of a paralytic stroke suffered a few hours before. Short services were held at the home of Mrs. Harnden's mother, Mrs. Boyd, in Story City, today, at 12:30 and at 1 o'clock at the church, after which the funeral party drove to this city and the body was interred in the local cemetery.

Mr. Harnden was the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Harnden, pioneer residents of north Milford township. He was first married to Miss Minnie Calhoun of this city. They made their home in the northwest for some years where she died and he later married the second time, his present wife being known as a girl as Miss Carrie Boyd.

Death being due to a stroke of apoplexy, which he suffered about 5 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Mr. Harnden had been in failing health for sometime, having previously suffered a slight stroke several months ago. He had also had heart disease several years. He was about 60 years old.

Mr. Harnden and his wife and daughter moved back to Story City about a year ago from their home in Oregon. They made their home for some time with the John Hill family. Last spring the Harndens and Henry Boyd opened, and have since operated a grocery store at that place.

He leaves besides his wife and adopted daughter, several brothers and sisters, among whom are Mrs. John Hill of Story City and Mrs. Howard Sawyer of Sioux Rapids.
