MR. LOWMAN DEAD; FUNERAL HERE TODAY
AGED FATHER OF MRS. HADLEY DIED AS A RESULT OF INJURIES
William Lowman, 82, died Saturday evening at 6:00 from the shock resulting from a fall in which he sustained a broken hip, on Thursday.
The funeral service will be held this afternoon at 3:30, at the Morfoot funeral home with W. O. Benthin, pastor of Central Presbyterian church, in charge.
The body, accompanied by the funeral party, will leave here Tuesday morning for Iowa City, where interment will be in the family lot in Oakland cemetery, by the side of two daughters.
Mr. Lowman, father of Mrs. H. E. Hadley had been an invalid for the past nearly three years. Immediately after he sustained his injury which resulted in his death he was hurried to Iowa sanitarium, where he was given all possible aid, but it was realized from the start that he would not be able to withstand the shock.
William Lowman was born in Indiana county, Pennsylvania, July 2, 1849 and died at Nevada, May 2, 1931. He lived to young manhood in Pennsylvania and was married to Mary E. Smith at Livermore, Pennsylvania, in 1873. They continued to make their home in Pennsylvania until 1880 when they came out to Iowa and located at Iowa City.
There Mr. Lowman worked at his trade that of a carpenter and builder, and for many years was bridge foreman in the employe of the Rock Island railroad.
Retiring from active work, Mr. and Mrs. Lowman came to Nevada in 1919 and located in a home at 214 J avenue, but a block from the of their younger daughter, Mrs. Hadley. There they continued to live until the health of both made it advisable to break up the home.
He leaves besides his aged wife, two daughters, Mrs. Minerva Justice of Chicago and Mrs. Stella Hadley of Nevada, Mrs. Hadley is the wife of Colonel H. E. Hadley. There are also 5 granddaughters and 3 great grandsons.
Two daughters died while very young nd were buried at Iowa City.
He leaves one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Nesbitt of Saltsburg, Penn., who is 85 years of age.
After coming to Nevada Mr. Lowman devoted practically all of his time to his home and his circle of acquaintances in Nevada was limited, yet to those who had gained his acquaintance, he was known as a man of fine character and will be most kindly remembered by all his neighbors and friends.
