Obituary of the Late Clinton Emerson

Clinton Emerson, for over 61 years a resident of Story county, who died at his home here April 13, after a brief illness, was laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery the afternoon of April 16, after services in the First Methodist church, by Rev. L. E. Watson.

Mr. Emerson, born near Aurora Ill., would have been 68 years of age May 28. He was a lad of seven years of age when he came to Iowa with his parents and they settled on a farm near Gilbert, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Miss Sadie Hallowell, by J. A. Fitchpatrick, justice of the peace at his office in Nevada, 41 years ago on March 23. They lived near or in Nevada during their entire married life.

He leaves besides his wife, one daughter, Lillie Emerson and four sons Elmer, Walter, Lafayette and Alfred, all of this city. He also leaves four brothers, they being Lorenzo Emerson of Missouri, Myron Emerson of Oklahoma City, George Emerson of Montgomery, Ia., and Fred Emerson of near Shipley.

Those, with six grandchildren and a host of distant relatives and friends are left to mourn his death. Mr. Emerson was considered one of the good and substantial citizens of the community and was well respected by all who knew him.
