Ellen Berrett

Ellen (Nellie) Berrett, 94, of Nevada, died Friday, July 4, at Story County Hospital.

She was born Dec. 29, 1885 in Claverly, England, the daughter of Charles Lloyd and Margaret Hamer. She was one of ten children.

She came to the United States in 1910. On Dec. 14, 1910, she married John Berrett at Pontiac, Mich. The couple were long-time Story County residents.

She is survived by three daughters: Pauline Stensland of rural Cambridge, Marguerite Bauge of Ames, and Rene Hockman of Jewell; 18 grandchildren; and 33 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and three sons.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 7, at 1:30 p.m. at the Calvery United Methodist Church, Ames, with Pastor David Forbes officiating. Burial followed in the Nevada cemetery.

Stevens Funeral Home, Ames, was in charge of arrangements.
