Rites for Lewis B. Beroen at Story City

Funeral services for Lewis B. Beroen were held Saturday afternoon, February 20, at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. The Rev. Harold T. Masted officiated. Berne Hill sang two numbers accompanied by Louise Olson at the organ. Nephews of the deceased were pallbearers, Gaylord Henryson, Howard Johnson, Harold Henryson, Archie Francis and Carroll Reisetter. Interment was in the Story City Municipal cemetery.

Obituary

Lewis B. Beroen, son of Hans and Helen Henryson-Beroen was born in Story county on January 30, 1881 and died at the Story City Memorial Hospital on February 17. He was baptized by the Rev. Solberg of the Salem Lutheran Church at Roland and confirmed by the Rev. C. C. Holter. Mr. Beroen attended the Jewell Luther College.

On March 5, 1907 he was united in marriage to Helene Hagen in Hamilton county. Two children were born to this union, Mrs. Helen Hittle of Olympia, Washington, who preceded him in death on October 8, 1954 and Mrs. Hyla Lehman of Cedar Rapids.

Mr. and Mrs. Beroen lived for forty years at their home "Lu Helens", in Hamilton County and owned and managed farms in Story and Hamilton counties. Upon their retirement they moved to their home in Story City.

In earlier years, Mr. Beroen was a member of the Board of Directors of the Farmers Grain Company, Sandness Independent school and the Bethel Lutheran Church as well as participating in many other activities.

Surviving are his daughter, Hyla, three grandchildren and two brothers. Mr. Beroen's wife preceded him in death on October 23, 1959.
