Rites for Mrs. L. S. Beroen Held in Story City Church

Funeral services for Mrs. L. B. Beroen were held Monday afternoon, October 26 at two o'clock in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Story City. The Rev. Harold T. Masted officiated. Miss Louise Olson, organist, accompanied Mr. Verne Hill, who sang at the service.

Casket bearers were Archie Reisetter of Radcliffe, Edward Reisetter of Allison, Francis Reisetter of Jewell, Oswald Thorson of Waterloo, Gaylord Henryson and Howard Johnson of Story City. Interment was in the Story City Municipal cemetery.

Obituary

Helen Hagen Beroen, daughter of Hans and Larsine Hagen, was born in Hamilton county on April 14, 1876 and died at the Story City Memorial Hospital on Oct. 23 at the age of 83 years. She was baptized by the Rev. Takle and confirmed by the Rev. Michaelson at East Trinity Lutheran Church. Later she attended Jewell Lutheran College.

On March 5, 1907 she was married to Lewis Beroen of Story City by Rev. Hjortholm at the Hagen home in Hamilton County.

Two children were born to this union Helen (Mrs. Leroy Hittle) of Olympia, Washington, who preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1954 and Hyla (Mrs. Frederick Lehman) of Cedar Rapids, Ia.

Mrs. Beroen was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and life member of Immanuel Ladies Aid. She and her husband lived for forty years on their farm home - "Lic Helens" in Hamilton county. In December of 1950 they moved to their present home in Story City.

Survivors

Surviving besides her husband and daughter - Hyla Lehman are three grandchildren, Bradley Hittle of Olympia, Wash. and Rolfe and Reba Lehman of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Thorwald Thorson and Miss Emma Thorson of Forest City; two brothers, Rev. Louis Hagen of Hazen, N. D. and John Hagen of Story City. Another sister, Mrs. Ed Reisetter of Jewell preceded her in death.
