OBITUARY

Homer T. Farrar of Maxwell, was born on a farm near Axtell, Kan., Nov. 14, 1884 and passed away at his home Feb. 14, at the age of 69 from a sudden heart attack.

He was the ninth of a family of 11 children. His father, Horatio N. Farrar, was a Kansas pioneer, taking a Kansas homestead in 1870, along with his wife, Martha Mintar Farrar.

Homer graduated in 1905 from Axtall high school, after which he associated with his father in farming.

In 107 [sic] he was married to Lillian Keogan who was a local teacher and worked in her father's newspaper office, the Axtell Standard. In the spring of 1918 he moved to a farm he purchased, three miles southwest of Ames.

He had three children, Evelyn Maurine, Jay Vance and Matha Kathleen.

He moved to Maxwell in 1936. During the past 18 years he has specialized in raising hybrid corn and Hampshire hogs.

He was a member of the Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian, son and daughter, Jay Vance and Martha Kathleen, grandson Randolph Douglas. He also is survived by two brothers and four sisters.
