PIONEER ROLAND WOMAN IS DEAD

MRS. LENA DANIELSON, 83, DIED THERE AT 4:00 THIS MORNING

Special to the Journal.
Roland, July 30--Mrs. Lena Danielson, 83, and pioneer woman of this neighborhood died here at an early hour this morning after at long illness.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at Bergen Lutheran church after which interment will be in the Roland cemetery by the side of her husband, the late J. S. Danielson Sr., who died 14 years ago. The services will be held at 2:00 and in the absence of her pastor Rev. Sumstadt, the sermon will be preached by Rev. Bakke of McCallsburg.

Mrs. Danielson, a native of Norway, came to America as a girl and came to Iowa with her people in an early day, was married to J. S. Danielson and settled on a farm south of Roland in Milford township, where they lived until 22 years ago, when they moved into Roland and retired from active work. Here it was that Mr. Danielson died 14 years ago Mrs. Danielson continued to maintain her own home until about 3 years ago, when she closed her home and had since divided her time between her son John S. Danielson and family and that of her daughter, Mrs. Martin Hereim.

Mrs. Danielson leaves her son John S. Danielson, her daughters Mrs. Martha Hereim and Mrs. Ben Thompson, a half-sister Mrs. Hannah Sexe of Nevada and half brother Sam Briton of Roland.

The latter suffered a paralytic stroke a few days ago and has since been in a very critical condition. It was reported at his home today that his passing might be expected at any time.
