COLLINS PIONEER DIED SUDDENLY

JOHN W. SHUEY DROPPED DEAD WHILE AT TABLE AT SUPPER

Special to the Journal
Collins, Jan. 18--John W. Shuey, 68, for over forty years a resident of this community died very suddenly at his home north of town Thursday evening, while seated at the table with Mrs. Shuey at the evening meal. Heart trouble was the cause of his sudden death.

The funeral services will be held at the Church of Christ in Collins Sunday afternoon at 2:00, after which interment will be in the local cemetery. The funeral will be conducted by Rev. O. Jones of Merrill, a former pastor of the local church.

Mr. Shuey was a native of Maryland, where he was born August 20, 1862. First the family came out to Illinois and later he came to Story county and was married to Miss Abbie Dunahoo, a girl of the Maxwell neighborhood, in 1887.

They at once established their home on a farm a mile and half north of Collins and it was there that they have since lived and where they raised their two sons, Ernest and Glen.

Both of the sons are married and established on farms nearby.

While Mr. Shuey was a man of a quiet, retiring disposition yet he had a wide and most favorable acquaintance in the neighborhood and was recognized as one of the substantial citizens of community.
