MRS. SEGAR NELSON DIED LAST NIGHT

WAS PIONEER OF NORTHEAST RICHLAND TOWNSHIP--NATIVE OF DENMARK

Mrs. Segar Nelson 82, died at her home in northeast Richland township Thursday night at 9:45, after a long illness, death being due to heart complications.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon, when there will be brief services at the hoe at 1:30, after which the services will be conducted at the Johnson Grove church, by Rev. L. E. Watson of the Nevada and Johnson Grove Methodist churches. Burial will be in the Johnson Grove cemetery near by.

The deceased was born Christine Rasmussen, 82 years ago, on Monday, January 20, in Denmark. She came with her mother and other members of the family to America in 1884, and in 1886 was united in marriage to Segar Nelson the ceremony being performed at Zearing.

From the day of their marriage until her death, her home had been on the same farm in the northeast corner of Richland township. There, their two children were born. One a baby girl, died in infancy. The other, a son R. A. Nelson, was raised there, was married, and still has his home in a separate house upon the same farm.

Mrs. Nelson's eyesight began to fail her a number of years ago and for the past three years she had been totally blind.

Her health gradually failing, she was confined to her bed since Thanksgiving since which time she had been tenderly cared for by her aged husband, her son R. A. and family and other relatives.

From the time of her marriage she had her aged mother in the home with her until the death of the latter in 1914.

Mrs. Nelson leaves besides her aged husband, her son R. A. Nelson and wife, two grandchildren, brothers C. F. Rasmussen of Nevada and Hans Rasmussen of Marshalltown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

With her health impaired and the disadvantage of failing sight for years and finally total blindness, her life had been more or less retired, yet she was woman much beloved by her family and very kindly remembered by her neighbors and friends.
