Obituary from Iowa Cremation:

Dianne Chamberlin Mumm passed away on April 12, 2018 at the Madrid Home in Madrid, Iowa. Dianne is survived by her three children, Denise, Leslie, and Carl.

The daughter of Gretna R. and Stephen J. Chamberlin, Dianne was born on June 18, 1934, in Ft. Madison, Iowa. She graduated from Ames High in 1952. She attended college at Iowa State, studying occupational therapy. Summers were spent in Colorado. She married Richard Mumm on January 14, 1955 and in that same month the couple moved to Germany for two years during Richard’s service in the U.S. Army. They returned to the U.S. and moved to Sioux City, Iowa.

When her children were young, Dianne stayed home to raise them. After they were all in school she attended Morningside College to complete her B.A. in Art Education, which she received in 1972. She put this education to use working for the Board of Education in the Sioux City area as an art coordinator. She also taught art at the Sioux City Art Center, the Octagon and Heartland Senior Services in Ames, and at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico.

Dianne brought artmaking, artists, and general creativity to the Mumm household. She spent much of her life perfecting her skills at watercolor painting, exhibiting often in the Sioux City area and then later in Ames after Richard and Dianne returned there in 1980.

In addition to her artistic endeavors, Dianne loved travel, camping, square dancing, classical music, and birdwatching.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on June 26 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at 1015 N. Hyland Ave., Ames, Iowa.
