On Sunday, January 28, 2018, Adolfo Remberto Sauceda, known to his family as "Beto" passed away at the age of 67. He is survived by his siblings, Marina, Marta, Elvia, Hernan, Carlos, Josue, and Ana, by his two children, Jeremias Sauceda and Elena Peeples, by his grandchildren, Seth Sauceda, Luke Sauceda, Annika Sauceda, and Anita Peeples, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Adolfo Otniel Sauceda, his father, Domingo Sauceda Rodriguez, and his mother, Ana Rosa Rodriguez Galo.

Adolfo's love and passion were mathematics, physics, and engineering. He received a Certificate of Teaching Mathematics and later a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching at La Escuela Superior del Profesado, a Bachelor in Physics from Dordt College in Sioux Falls, IA, and a Masters in Teaching Science at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. He was published as an undergraduate in the American Journal of Physics in 1978. He faithfully taught a generation of scientists, engineers, and science educators at Universidad Pedagogica de Honduras and Universidad Autonoma de Honduras. He was a strong advocate for excellence in teaching and continued access to STEM education for young people across the country. He returned to the United States in 1992, was naturalized in 1999, and was a resident of both New Jersey and Iowa during his adult life.

Adolfo will be interred at the Ames Municipal Cemetery with a private graveside service. Memorial donations can be made to Dordt College. He will be remembered for his contributions to math, science, engineering, and education locally and abroad.
