From Stevens Memorial Chapel obituary, Ames, Story County, Iowa:

Roy James Zingg, 86, passed away at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames on January 30, 2018. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.

Roy was born on September 12, 1931 to Emil and Martha (Biekert) Zingg. Roy grew up in Charles City, and served in the U.S Navy during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return home he married Carol Schuldt on May 12, 1955.

Roy was a graduate of Iowa State University, he received his PhD in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. He went on to become a tenured professor at Iowa State University teaching Computer Science and Electrical Engineering until 1983. He left academia and accepted a position on the west coast at McDonnell Douglas until his retirement in 1998 when Roy and Carol moved back to Ames. Roy was active in his community and Collegiate United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife; Carol Zingg, son; Paul (Lori) Zingg of Ottumwa, Iowa, daughter; Martha (Martin) Gundel of Midlothian, Virginia, grandchildren; Katelyn Zingg, Rachel Zingg, Kirstin Gundel, Emily Gundel and Nicholas Gundel.
