Obituary from Hamilton's Funeral Home, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.

Daniel Edmund Kunz, age 77, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Carlisle Care Center in Carlisle, IA. He was born on March 27, 1940 in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

After graduating from Mallard High School, Dan earned Associate’s Degrees from Devry Technical Institute and Iowa State University. He then served in the Army during the Korean War. Dan worked for Iowa State for 33 years as a custodian, where he earned a Gold Performance Excellence award. He enjoyed cars, westerns, and meat for dessert. Dan will be remembered for his love of conversation, smart wit, kindness, and generous spirit.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 35 years, Christine; daughters, Debra of Mission, KS and Dana of Park City, UT and their mother Grace Kunz of Waconia, MN; brothers Richard and wife Carol of Papillion, NE and Paul and wife Pam of Moorcroft, WY; in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Kunz and Mildred Kunz; and his twin brother David.

Memorial services will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. After a lunch reception, the burial of his ashes will follow at Palestine Lutheran Cemetery in Huxley.
