Timothy Micheal O’Connor was born on October 27, 1976, in Marshalltown, Iowa; he was the son of Micheal William O’Connor and Janice Lorea (Wevik) Smith. He attended school in the Marshalltown Community School District graduating with the class of 1995. Tim had worked at Fareway Grocery Stores for 26 years.

Tim touched the lives of so many people through his hobbies and interests. He enjoyed nearly everything especially if it involved riding his bicycle. Almost every week Tim would be seen on a central Iowa bicycle trail socializing with friends and fellow bikers. Tim, more than ever, looked forward to RAGBRAI each year riding with his beloved teammates of Team Sop N Wet. He was one of the founding members of the team and earned the title "Safety Coordinator." Tim would provide motivational speeches throughout the week and was known to assist any struggling riders through the long daily rides. Tim was an active member of the Ames Jaycees and volunteered for many activities in his community. He also enjoyed attending Cyclone events but mostly he just loved putting smiles on faces of everyone each day.

Left to cherish Tim’s memory is his mother, Janice (Roger) Smith of Marshalltown, Iowa; sister Michele Lorea O’Connor (Brad Vander Sanden) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; niece Chelsea O’Connor; nephew Tyler Finders; aunt Jeanette Smolik, Uncle Merle Wevik (Aunt Margaret Ticktin); cousins: Saretta (Alex) Cavazos and their children Cyanna, Cameryn and Cason; Amy Smolik and children Brandt and Emerson; and Celeste (Randy) Eldred and their children Christopher and Anna.

In death Timmy rejoins his father Mike O’Connor, a cousin Matt Smolik, and Uncle Cy Smolik.
