OBITUARY

The Elder Cummins Passes.

Thomas L. Cummins, best know to the state as the father of Senator Cummins but a man according to all reports quite entitled to have a reputation of his own, died at his home in Des Moines Thursday afternoon after having resisted the encroachments of time longer than to his friends had assumed possible. He was a native of Pennsylvania and would have been ninety years of age on the 6th of March. Eight children survive him, the senator being the eldest and J. C. Cummins, recently elected president of the Equitable Life Insurance company of Iowa, being the next in order. Mr. Cummins was of rugged constitution and character and was much honored where he was known. His funeral will be held in Des Moines Sunday forenoon.
