CARRIER'S DEATH CAUSES SORROW
PASSING OF E. A. ERNST LEAVES VACANCY ON ROLLS OF ASSOCIATION.
In the death of E. A. Ernst of Maxwell, who passed away at Iowa sanitarium in this city Monday noon, following an operation for appendicitis on Friday preceding, the Story County Rural Letter Carriers association lost one of their oldest and most active members.
Mr. Ernst had been a carrier out of Maxwell since the service was installed and had always been active in the organization and popular among his fellow carriers.
A number of the carriers of county attended the funeral services which were held Wednesday afternoon from the home and the interment in the cemetery at Iowa Center.
Among the Nevada men who attended the funeral were Bert B. Child, for many years active in the rural carriers service and an associate of Mr. Ernst and Carriers Patterson and Ball. The carrier service of nearly every town in the county was represented at the funeral.
The funeral was a large one and one of the features was the presence of nearly every family on his rural route. The interment was in charge of the I. O. O. F. of Maxwell of which he was a long and active member.
The resolutions, committee of the association had passed the following resolutions over the death of their brother:

To leave this weary road;
And with the brotherhood on high.

The eye long dimmed with tears
And wake in glorious repose
To spend eternal years.It is not death to hear
The stroke that sets us free
From dungeon chain to breath the air
Of boundless liberty."Whereas, The Supreme Ruler of the Universe in His infinite wisdom has taken from us our esteemed brother, Elisha A. Ernst.
