Caroline Moon was born July 31, 1923 in Moline, IL to Carl H. and Minnie M. (Stoeber) Carlson. She grew up in Moline, IL and lived in Ankeny and Des Moines for many years before moving to Story City in 2012. Caroline worked at Salisbury House as coordinator of tours, registrar and researcher of the art and antiques for 31 years. She enjoyed fishing in Canada for many years.

Caroline was active in many Des Moines organizations including past president of Des Moines Business and Professional Women’s Club, PEO chapter KD, Polk County Historical Society, West Des Moines Women’s Club; Antiquists, Wesley Redhead- the Questers – Chapter 57, and the Iowa Society for the Preservation of Historic Landmarks. She was a volunteer at Terrace Hill and a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, singing in the choir for 40 years.

Caroline passed away June 5, 2017 at Bethany Manor in Story City at the age of 93.

Caroline is survived by her daughter, Sue Trampel (Gary) of Story City; step son, Jim Moon (Mary Ann); step son-in-law, Larry Halerud; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lael Moon; her son, Tim Carlson; a step daughter, Barbara Halsrud and her siblings.
