Elizabeth “Betty” June Smith was born June 24, 1930 to Leonard and Susan (Bonneville) Carter in Duluth, Minnesota. She was a secretary at the National Animal Disease Lab in Ames. Betty was an active member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 733 and the Social Order of Beauceant. She was a worldwide traveler and was eager to experience new adventures with friends and family.
Betty passed away June 9, 2017 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames at 86 years of age.
Betty is survived by four children, Dawn Baldus of Nevada, Cindy Cass of Denver, Colo., Nancy Kluck of Chandler, Ariz., and Lenard Kluck of Ames; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-children, Susan Smith, Mark Smith and Scott Smith and their families; and two brothers, Leonard Carter, Jr. and Richard Carter;
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Donald Kluck; her second husband, Kenneth Smith; three sisters; and four brothers.
