WALTER BACON DIED SUNDAY

Was Thirteenth Death Since Last Outbreak of Disease.

The thirteenth death from influenza in the community since since the second outbreak of the disease broke out a week or so ago, was that of Walter Bacon age 22 years, who died at his home on north Chestnut street Sunday morning December 8, at 10:30 o'clock. The funeral services will be held this afternoon, Rev. R. M. Shipman officiating and the body will be taken to Oxford Junction for burial. Tuesday morning Mrs. Bacon will make her home there with her mother.

He was taken sick Wednesday, Nov. 27 and grew steadily worse, the influenza being followed almost at once by pneumonia, and in spite of every effort on the part of physicians and nurse the end came all too soon. His wife also had an attack of influenza while her husband was so low and was able only yesterday morning to sit up for the first time. That she may have the best possible care she was taken last evening to the Iowa Sanitarium.

Walter Orland Bacon, son of Devillo and Jeanette Hill Bacon was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa, April 3, 1896. When he was about three years old the family residence was moved to Maxwell. There the boy grew up attending the schools and spending the entire period of his youth here too he untied with the Methodist church and there retained his membership until the time of his death. His marriage took place April 4, 1917, when Miss Grace Burwell of Oxford Junction became his wife. They lived for a time on a farm east of Nevada and last spring moved to Nevada where he was engaged in the automobile industry, Harris and Byers being the last employers.

Mr. Bacon leaves besides his wife, a baby boy, Orland Ray, now just a little past ten months old. They will receive universal sympathy in their sad loss.
