Eugene "Gene" Weber, 80, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 p.m., April 24, 2017, at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames with burial to follow at Ames Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames with a 6 p.m. vigil service.

Eugene Weber was born September 25, 1936, in Ellis, Kansas to John and Patricia Weber where he grew up and received his education. On October 5, 1957, Gene was united in marriage to Margaret Jean Weaver at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. The couple has been blessed with five children, Donald, Terrance, Pamela, Kenneth, and Chad. The family made their home in Webster City when they ran Zips Restaurant before moving to Colo and then Ames.

Gene made his career as the owner and operator of Gene Weber's Vacuum Cleaner Sales and Service. He was a talented artist of many types of artistic impressions, including painting, marbles, and wood scrolling. His painted marbles appeared on Dodda's People television show. He also enjoyed watching western movies and traveling to Deadwood, South Dakota with Marge. Most of all, Gene treasured time spent with Marge, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who all held a special place in his heart.

Gene is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marge; children, Donald Weber, Terrance (Debra) Weber, Pamela (Stacey) Rhoades, Kenneth (Rose) Weber, and Chad (Tiffany) Weber; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Richard (Janet) Weber and Alfonse (Vickie) Weber. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lawrence Weber, Cecilia Kinderkanecht, and Agnes McGilvary; and granddaughter, Krista Weber.
