Death of Mrs. Compton
Mrs. A. P. Compton* died at her home Tuesday, May 14, after an illness of about two weeks. She had been an invalid, however, for about four years, due to having fractured one of her hips. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon from the home conducted by Rev. Minchen of the Congregational church. Mrs. Compton was born in Crawford county, Pennsylvania in 1834. She was a teacher during her early life. She was married to Mr. Compton in 1855. They came to Ames in 1869 and have resided here since that time. Mrs. Compton leaves two children Evelyn of Ames and Hugh of Dodge, Nebraska and one son, Emmett, died several years ago.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: This should be Mrs. P. C. Compton (not A. C. Compton) as Henrietta Wikoff was married to Porter Cleveland Compton.
