Teri May (Cleasby) Ochiltree
June 5, 1954 - April 8, 2017

Teri died suddenly of cardiac arrest at Mary Greeley Medical Center on April 8, 2017. A memorial gathering will be held at First Baptist Church in Ames on May 13 at 11:00 AM.

Teri was born June 5, 1954 in Burlington, Iowa. She became the adopted daughter of Donna and John Cleasby on Feb. 12, 1957. She grew up in Ames, Iowa and graduated from Ames High School in 1972. She served in the US Army from 1974 to 1977 and was stationed in Belgium at NATO SHAPE headquarters for two years. This was followed by work and going to Iowa State University part time where Teri graduated from in 1987 with co-majors in Journalism and English. Her jobs were in office settings doing a variety of work. She received specialized computer training in one of her jobs and became very skilled in all aspects of computer use and repair.

Teri had a varied life including traveling much of the U.S. and camping with her parents, two siblings, and her parent’s extended family each summer for many years. She usually had a dog or cat that she cared for with great affection. She was a volunteer at the Ames Animal Shelter and provided foster care for kitten litters in her home until they were old enough for adoption.

Teri enjoyed sharing computer information with her internet tech savvy friends. She was a voracious reader for her whole life and a big fan of PBS TV programs. Teri loved to talk and have some good laughs with friends and family.

In the past fifteen years, she suffered some major health problems and was not able to be employed.

Teri is survived by her parents and siblings, Rick (Kathy) Cleasby of Robins, IA and Lynne (Brian) Miller of Pella, IA, her cat Chloe, plus several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be donated to Ames Animal Shelter 325 Billy Sunday Rd, Ames, IA 50010.

Adams Funeral Home in Ames is assisting the family with arrangements.
