Death at Iowa Center
Mrs. Fanny Gould Smith*, wife of Thomas Smith, died at her home at Iowa Center Thursday evening, after an illness of some weeks with typhoid fever. Her age was thirty-four and a half years. She was the daughter of William Gould of Iowa Center and has practically spent all of her life in Story county. Her father, her husband and five children survive her. Her death is very sad. Mr. and Mrs. Smith and three of their children have endured the scourge of typhoid and little Pearl, the third child is now very low. The funeral will be conducted at the church in Iowa Center Saturday afternoon at 2:30 by Rev. Pickford, her former pastor now of Des Moines.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The deceased was Frances M. "Fanny" or "Fannie" Guge, not Gould as stated. She was the daughter of William H. Guge and Eliza Layton of Iowa Center.
