OBITUARY

Death of Jacob Weiford

Mrs. George H. King, writing from Fruita, Colorado, under date of January 24, gives the following information of the death of her father. She says:

"My father passed away a little before midnight last night from the infirmities of old age. He commenced to fail on the 11th of this month and his decline was very rapid and painless, and the passing over was calm and peaceful--such a passing away as we all crave for our loved ones.

"The remains will be shipped to Nevada for interment, unaccompanied by either of us. The sexton will receive them and lay them away quietly without any ceremony. The remains will be started this evening on the same train with this letter, and will probably reach Nevada on Sunday evening. I would like for my friends to know of his passing away. His name was Jacob Weiford, and if he had lived until the 2nd of next month he would have been 83 years old."

The body of Mr. Weiford has not yet arrived in Nevada; but it is expected tonight, and it will then be buried as directed. Mr. Weiford lived here for two or three years before the George King family moved away, and later he accompanied them to Colorado. He was lame and did no get over town very often; but the people he met will remember him most kindly. Mrs. Weiford died here and is buried in the Nevada cemetery where he will now sleep beside her.
