Mary Kathleen “Kay” Reinhardt, age 64 of Ames, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Kay was born September 29, 1952 to Robert and Verna (Wenger) Figler in Lorain, Ohio. She attended St. Agnes Catholic School and Elyria Catholic High School, from where she graduated in 1970. She earned her cosmetology license in Columbus, Ohio. She married Timothy Reinhardt on September 9, 1972 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Elyria, Ohio. They lived in Columbus, Ohio; Wooster, Ohio; Huxley, Iowa and Ames, Iowa. She had one child, Aaron Joseph.

Kay taught at Bernel Cosmetology School in Ames and Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines. She then worked at Greater Iowa Credit Union in Ames, from where she retired. She enjoyed quilting and sewing, gardening, bowling, and going for walks with friends. Kay also enjoyed spending time with her family. Her son A.J. was her pride and joy.

Survivors include her son, Aaron Joseph; her significant other, Mike Staley; her sister, Anita (Herve) Tellier of Ohio; her brother, Robert (Jackie) Figler of Ohio; her brother, John (Deidre) Figler of North Carolina; her best friend, Cathy Krebs; her good friend, Kris Scheppler; her close family friends, Saige Heyer and Natalie Troendle; and nieces, nephews and many other friends and family.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Boys and Girls Club of Story County, 210 S. 5th Street, Ames, IA 50010.
