ROLAND ROCKETS
One of the Saddest Events
that can happen to humanity was the burning to death of little Herbert Michaelson, the four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Michaelson of Roland. Last Saturday afternoon little Herbert and a little five year old girl of John Hagen was playing in the small barn of Mrs. Brekka, that stood just west of the L. Selanbush store, and in some way or other the hay was set on fire resulting in the fatal burning of little Herbert. He lingered until Monday noon when death relieved all pain and suffering. The little girl escaped from the building without injury but from the nature of the burns the supposition is that the little boy attempted to put fire out. His feet and legs, hands and arms were terribly burned. He managed in some way to escape from the building and was seen by Mr. Dahl, a clerk in the Selanbusch store just as he emerged from the burning building. he was rushed to Dr. Rice's office where all that skill could accomplish was quickly done. Hope was aroused on Sunday as the little fellow seemed to rally, but Monday morning he grew worse, suffering intense pain until the end came at 11:30 a. m. Herbert was an unusually bright and attractive little boy, was a beautiful child of the kind that always attracts attention. He spent much of the time in the store with his father and was a great favorite with customers and the clerks in the store. He was one those amusing little fellows that will be sadly missed not only by father, mother, brothers and sisters, but by all others who delighted in talking and playing with him.
He is gone, but not forgotten,
Gone, to the Heavenly shore.
Gone, where angels beckon,
Gone, to return no more. The funeral was held Wednesday at 2:30, conducted by Rev. Holman, pastor of Trinity church.
