SHOCKING DEATH OF CHILD

Four-Year Old Set Fire in Haymow and Was Himself Fatally Burned

Two babes in a blazing hay mow! That is a combination which shocked Roland people Saturday afternoon. Herber, the little four-year-old son of S. J. Michaelson, and Gertrude Hagen about the same age, were playing in the mow of the small barn belonging to Miss Bertha Brekka, when the little lad ignited a match, and immediately the children were almost surrounded with flames. The little girl escaped and gave the alarm. The little boy badly burned, staggered about till he reached the window and then fell, rather than jumped from the window. He was not injured in falling and it was thought for a time that he would recover from his burns; but he failed to rally, and died Monday noon. The shocking death is a great blow to Mr. and Mrs. Michaelson, who are mong Roland's most prominent, and esteemed citizens, and all sympathy is with them. That barn was valued at about $150 and was insured for $100.
