A. B. Mitchell Dies in Alabama

Mrs. H. C. Mitchell is apprised of the death of Mr. A. B. Mitchell, the brother of her late husband, Mr. R. H. Mitchell, which event occurred August 30, at his home in Cedar Bluffs, Alabama. Mr. A. B. Mitchell was a resident of Nevada and vicinity from 1869 to 1877, living part of the time on the R. H. Mitchell farm just west of town. On that farm the death of his wife occurred in 1871 and was followed three years later by the death of a son Parker, a promising young teacher and only child. Mr. Mitchell in 1872 married a lady from Tipton. They have resided since mostly in the South. She, with their seven sons and daughters, now survives him. Their son Lebbeus, and their daughter Mary when eight or ten years old were adopted by Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Mitchell, and by them reared and educated. The son recently spent his vacation in Nevada attending his foster mother through her own illness and in the duties of the final weeks of her aunt, Melissa Shannon, and after the funeral one week ago he left in the interest of occupation at New York City. His sister Mary, now Mrs. Crawford of Vicksburg, Mississippi, about a week ago went to visit her parents at their home in Cedar Bluffs, Alabama, and it is during her visit that her father who had become feeble, had unexpectedly passed on.

The deceased was a citizen of worth and is most kindly remembered by old residents of Nevada. His coming here was fifteen years subsequent to the coming of his brother R. H. and both came from Parishville, St. Lawrence county, New York.
