Death of Mrs. McLaughlin
Mrs. Joanna McLaughlin died Monday morning of pneumonia at the home of her son-in-law, Michael Fitzgerald, on the old Fitzgerald homestead in Indian Creek township. Her age was eighty years. Mrs. McLaughlin came with her husband from Indiana at an early day, and Mr. McLaughlin passed away nearly a score of years ago. Of their six children, Mrs. Quinn and Mrs. Harkins have passed on. The survivors are the sons John and Andrew in the far west, and the daughters, Mrs. Michael Fitzgerald, at whose home the mother died, and Miss Ella McLaughlin of Des Moines. The funeral and burial occur today at the Holy Cross church and cemetery.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The obituary refers the deceased as Joanna McLaughlin. However, this submitter has found her referred to as Hanora or Hannah. Her death record says her father was D. Mooreland, one of her daughter's marriages says the mother's maiden name was "Mourn" but genealogical sites refer to her as Hanora Moran which seems most plausible considering she was born in Ireland.
